Otaniemi is located in Espoo, about 10 kilometres from the centre of Helsinki, which can be reached by metro and bus directly to the campus, and has good public transport links from other parts of Espoo and Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. Aalto University metro station is approximately 11 minutes from Kamppi station (Helsinki).

There might be detours in the centre of Otaniemi due to construction work.

Campus in Otaniemi is in zone B. Tickets can be bought from some bus and tram stops, metro stations or HSL’s application.

Metro (Aalto-yliopisto, Aalto University)

The journey from Helsinki center (Kamppi) to Aalto University in Otaniemi takes 11 minutes.

There are two exits from the Aalto University metro station, Otaniementie and Tietotie. Via Otaniementie, you can access the Business School and the undergraduate center (organizers and signage will be showing the way on the day of the conference).

The Metro line’s end station in the west is Tapiola or Kivenlahti (Espoo), and in the east Vuosaari or Mellunmäki (Helsinki). The Metro runs every 2.5 minutes at Aalto University station during the rush hour, and every 4–5 minutes at other times.

By bus and light rail

Otaniemi is easily accessible by bus and light rail line 15. The light rail runs every 6 minutes on weekdays, with three stops in Otaniemi: Otaranta, Aalto University metro station, and Maari.

Single metro, light rail, tram or bus tickets can be bought in advance at the ticket machines or from the HSL mobile application. The same ticket is valid on buses and the metro.

Airport connection

• Otaniemi is approximately 22 km away from the Helsinki-Vantaa airport.
• Taxi fare is around 40 euros (travel time about 30 minutes).
• Public transport from the airport takes about an hour: either the train or bus the Helsinki Central Railway station and metro to Aalto University, the train to Huopalahti and change to light rail line 15
